The Transformed Career

Biblical Perspectives for Managing the Privileges & Challenges of Working in the Christ-Centered Organization
| posted 11/02/2007

Part One: Welcome to the Front Lines!

Many people I have met across my four decades of work long to be employed in a setting where their Christian faith can be openly expressed and talents fully utilized. For the few who are given that opportunity, the unique challenges, privileges, and demands of such service reach far beyond anything they anticipated. I have spent my entire professional career in Christ-centered organizations and ministries including several Christian Colleges, senior pastoral assignments, broadcast ministries and other missionary and human service outreaches.

The two most important sustaining resources for that service have been a compelling, inescapable sense of divine calling and an unshakable confidence in the Scripture's provisions, corrections and promises. Fantastic article...if only David had rewritten the first page. As someone who spent his "entire professional career in Christ-centered organizations and ministries" I can forgive him some for not being an expert on what it's like to have a career on the dark side. But as someone who has spent most of his career in those waters, I can tell you spiritual warfare is not unique to churches and Christian organizations! Neither is Personal Accountability to Partners. It's just that in the business world they are referred to as: owners, stockholders, and customers. We can do great harm to our fellow Christ-Followers by suggesting or teaching that spiritual warfare and personal accountability only occur inside Christian organizations. On the contrary, our brothers and sisters need to bring an awareness and a willingness to engage these challenges, and to view their work as both a mission field and a ministry.

One star at the moment simply because I cannot get access to the article even though I am logged in as a CLA member. I've tried several times and have been unsuccessful. Either I'm missing something basic or there's a glitch. Can someone please help? I want to read it all! Thank you.
